Learning material exemption

  • Performance specification

The majority of the textbooks required are provided to the pupils free of charge by the school authority - the town of Beckum. The textbooks are loaned to the pupils. In addition, parents must purchase books themselves as part of their own contribution. The personal contribution amounts to one third of the average amount set by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the procurement of school books. This varies depending on the school level attended:

    Primary school (grades 1 to 4) 16,00 €
    Secondary level I (grades 5 to 10) 34,00 €
    Secondary level II (grades 11 to 13, EF, Q1, Q2) 31,00 €

Each year, the school conference decides which textbooks must be purchased from the personal contribution. It is possible that the amount is exceeded in individual year groups. However, any excess must be offset by a lower own contribution in other year groups. Further information can be obtained from the school.

Families who receive state benefits are reimbursed the statutory own contribution by the town of Beckum on a statutory or voluntary basis. Reimbursement can be applied for if one of the following conditions is met:

    • Receipt of subsistence assistance in accordance with the Twelfth Book of the German Social Code,
    • Receipt of benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act,
    • Receipt of a child benefit supplement in accordance with the Federal Child Benefit Act,
    • Receipt of housing benefit in accordance with the Housing Benefit Act,
    • Families who are exempt from paying the parental contribution for child day care
    • Families in a current financial emergency comparable to the financial situations mentioned above. In this case, an income check will be carried out.

The following documents are required for the application:

    • A current notification of receipt of the above-mentioned benefits or exemption from the parental contribution for child daycare (Section 5) or proof of income (Section 6),
    • Proof of payment for the textbooks purchased as part of the personal contribution,
    • Bank account details.

Reimbursement can be requested in writing by post or e-mail. An informal application to the City of Beckum, Fachdienst Schule und Sport, Weststraße 46, 59269 Beckum is sufficient. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Martens

If you receive benefits in accordance with Book II of the German Social Code (unemployment benefit II), the Warendorf district job centre is responsible!
