Flat registration
Performance specification
If you have moved to Beckum from another town (moving in) or are moving within Beckum, you must register/re-register at the Beckum or Neubeckum Citizens' Office within 2 weeks. Remember to bring the identity cards of all family members with you so that the new residential address can be noted in these.
According to § 23 of the Federal Registration Act, a confirmation from the landlord or landlady must be presented to fulfil the general registration obligation. Please bring this with you when you register or re-register.
In the certificate, your landlord (or a person authorised by him/her) must confirm that you have actually moved in. Certificates issued in advance with a move-in date in the future cannot be recognised.
The landlord/landlady is the person who actually and willingly lets another person use a flat (single room or several rooms), regardless of whether this is based on an effective legal relationship. As a rule, this is the flat owner. In the case of subletting, the landlord is the main tenant who allows another person to use the premises of a rented flat independently. The tenancy agreement must be presented to prove who the main tenant is. Anyone who moves into their own flat, i.e. is the owner, makes such a declaration for themselves. The landlord or an authorised person must confirm the move-in of the person subject to registration in writing with their signature. The certificate must also state the owner of the flat.
The landlord or landlady is obliged to co-operate in the registration or re-registration of the tenant. He or she must confirm the move-in in writing to the person obliged to register in the landlord's confirmation of residence within the specified period. The person obliged to register must bring the confirmation to the registration or re-registration and present it at the Citizens' Registration Office.
A landlord's confirmation is not required when deregistering or moving out.
The legal basis is § 19 of the Federal Registration Act.Notes: Moving within Germany
