Flat registration

New in Beckum? Welcome to Beckum!

We require the following for on-site registration:

• Your identity card and/or passport
• the "Landlord's confirmation of residence" form
• If applicable, the vehicle licence (change of residence within the Warendorf district)
• a power of attorney if you cannot come in person

You have moved to Beckum and we would like to welcome you as a new citizen? Then register with the registration office within two weeks of moving in. This also applies if you move to another flat within the city of Beckum. It is not possible to register before you actually move in.

If you come to one of the citizens' offices in person, you do not need to print out and fill in the registration form beforehand. We will collect the data directly in your presence.

If you are unable to attend the registration in person, you have the option of being represented by a person nominated by you. In this case, please issue a corresponding power of attorney. If you have a court order or a power of attorney, this is also sufficient for registration/re-registration. We still require your identity card/passport as well as an identification document of the authorised person and the confirmation of residence.

Remember to bring the identity cards of all family members with you so that the new home address can be noted in these.

Landlord confirmation

Since the new Federal Registration Act came into force on 1 November 2015, the presentation of the landlord's confirmation of residence is mandatory for every registration or re-registration. The landlord is therefore subject to the obligation to co-operate according to § 19 BMG.

In the certificate, your landlord/landlady (or a person authorised by him/her) must confirm that you have actually moved in. Certificates issued in advance with a move-in date in the future cannot be recognised.
The landlord/landlady is the person who actually and willingly lets another person use a flat (single room or several rooms), regardless of whether this is based on an effective legal relationship.

If you are the owner of the new flat, we do not require the landlord's confirmation of residence. In this case, we will record a self-declaration during the registration process.

 

Changing the vehicle registration certificate
If a motor vehicle is registered in your name, the registration certificate part 1 (vehicle registration certificate) must also be changed (fee: €11.40). If no change has been made to the vehicle registration certificate in the past, the change can be made at the Citizens' Registration Office. If you are moving from another district and the foreign licence plate is not yet registered with the district of Warendorf, you must have the change made at the registration office of the district of Warendorf.
