Climate impact adaptation in the district of Warendorf
Actively tackling climate change: Beckum residents are in demand!
Climate change has long been noticeable in Beckum too. Hot, dry summers, more frequent heavy rainfall events and changing vegetation periods pose growing challenges for the town, its inhabitants and the local nature.
In order to actively counter these changes, the town of Beckum is participating in the district-wide project to develop an integrated climate adaptation concept. Together with the district of Warendorf and 8 other municipalities, the specific effects of climate change are being systematically analysed. The aim is to identify particularly affected areas and locations and, based on this, to develop targeted measures that strengthen the quality of life, adaptability and future viability of the region. The finalised concept should be available by July 2026.
All Beckum residents can already actively contribute to the process via a digital ideas map: Where are changes due to climate change already visible in Beckum? What measures do you think would be useful? What worries you? And what ideas do you have for a climate-adapted city? Concrete observations and personal suggestions for climate impact adaptation are required.

Participation is voluntary, anonymous and possible until 30 June. The comments and local knowledge are a valuable basis for future planning.
