Use urban space differently and join in the discussion

Spring experiment city terraces

From 21 March to 11 June, the furniture invites visitors to sit, join in and discuss. Mayor Michael Gerdhenrich opened the benches, planters, the bicycle service station, the small stage and the picnic area as part of the Aktivfest: "We want to get people talking about the traffic turnaround and the high street of the future without immediately creating facts."

Zukunftsnetz Mobilität NRW is making the city terraces along Hauptstraße, at the railway station and on Rathausplatz available to the city of Beckum, even where cars normally park.

Ideas wanted
Neubeckum town centre management welcomes and coordinates activities on the town terraces. Anyone interested should contact Neubeckum town centre management, neubeckum@stadtraumkonzept.de, 02525 939897-2 or -3. Spontaneous activities are also possible.

Feedback welcome
Parallel to the on-site discussion, everyone can also express their opinion online. QR codes attached to the furniture lead directly to a questionnaire on the Participation NRW portal. Further information is also available at www.beckum.de/stadt-terrassen.

More dialogue through participation NRW

How and for how long have I used the city terrace? How do I like it? With these and other questions about the Stadt-Terrassen, the town of Beckum is launching its involvement with Beteiligung NRW. The state portal now offers all Beckum residents the opportunity to get actively and digitally involved in shaping politics and administration - without having to register: simply click and join in !

Wherever surveys or feedback are involved, this platform will come into play in future, and with it the people of Beckum. "This means we can use a standardised tool for citizen participation and quickly find out what moves the population," says Smart City Coordinator Karina Benjilany, who is looking forward to lively participation.
