Measures implemented to strengthen cycling

More comfort and safety when cycling

Bus stop Hauptstraße in Neubeckum
More bicycles can now be safely parked at the "Markt" bus stop in Neubeckum.

Additional bicycle parking facilities have been created at the bus stops "Markt" in Neubeckum and "Schlenkhoffs Weg" in Beckum, with more to follow on Nordstraße and Weststraße before the town's anniversary.

Subway of the A 2 motorway
This subway can now be seen better.

In addition, a section of the Werse cycle path and the 100 castles route in the area of the A2 motorway subway was straightened and renovated to improve visibility for cyclists.

Lübecker Straße has been cleared for cyclists coming from Hansaring.

On Alleestraße, a parking and stopping ban was introduced on the southern side of the carriageway to improve traffic flow and give cyclists more space.

Some measures from the cycling concept have also already been implemented:

Eichendorffstraße in Neubeckum is currently being converted into a cycle lane. It is part of the cement route and the planned cycle route between Beckum and Neubeckum. The first cycle lane in Neubeckum is intended to offer cyclists a safe alternative to the main road running parallel to it. The junctions will be marked in red and the entire route will be marked to make it easier to recognise. Right of way regulations will be changed in favour of cyclists.

A footpath in Westpark was opened to cyclists, closing another gap in the cycle network.

Circulation barrier on Siechenhausweg
The distance between the roundabout barriers at the Siechenhausweg level crossing was increased.

At 14 locations in the city area, posts or barriers have been moved to a greater passage width of 1.50 metres or completely removed so that cargo bikes or children's bike trailers can pass safely.

The cycling concept was drawn up by the engineering firm IKS Mobilitätsprüfung on behalf of the city of Beckum with public participation. It provides for numerous prioritised measures to strengthen cycling in Beckum.
